The application of environmentally friendly technologies that exploit renewable energy sources is key to follow international agreements for the development of low-carbon buildings and infrastructures. How can energy geostructures be analysed and designed from an energy, geotechnical and structural point of view? What will be the performance of energy geostructures over time?
Energy geostructures analysis and design
is a 3-day course that will cover three main subjects:
(i) energy analysis, with a focus on the heat transfer and storage potentials of energy geostructures; (ii) geotechnical and structural analysis, with a focus on the thermo-mechanical behaviour of energy piles, walls and tunnels, and the thermo-hydro-mechanical behaviour
of soils and soil-concrete interfaces; and (iii) integrated energy, geotechnical and structural design of energy geostructures,
via development examples of energy geostructures projects.
This course, organised by EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne), is designed for professionals and scientists who want to acquire knowledge on the energy, geotechnical and structural performance of energy geostructures.
It will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland.
